Same-Day Crown - CEREC

With the development of dentistry over the last couple of decades, dental procedures have become more convenient, involving lesser chair time.  This allows the patients to get the treatment completed in a very short time span.  CEREC - Chairside Economical Restoration using Esthetic Ceramic is the most advanced dental restorative system available and is a modern-day method of fabricating dental restorations.

For procedures like crowns, veneers, bridges, etc., that traditionally require a messy impression, a temporary crown or bridge, and a second visit for placement, CEREC streamlines the process dramatically.

What does CEREC involve?

When you visit our dental practice to get a crown done, Dr. Kendall S. Wood and Dr. Matthew C. Schapper will examine your oral condition and determine your candidacy for crowns. With the help of a digital hand-held scanning tool, they scan and create an accurate digital impression of your teeth. The images rendered by the scans will be projected on a chairside computer screen, which can be viewed from multiple angles. This data will then be sent to a computer-aided milling machine, which carves out the restoration from a block of dental-grade ceramic.

Advantages of same-day crowns

  • CEREC crowns can be made in a single visit to the dentist’s practice.
  • There is no need for a temporary restoration when the permanent one is being fabricated.
  • The fit and contour of the crown will be excellent.
  • Digital scanning eliminates the requirement to bite into a gooey mass to make the teeth mold.
  • CEREC can be used to make different types of dental restorations, that includes crowns, veneers, bridges, etc.

Intra-oral camera

When it comes to your teeth, a picture explains what words never can. An intra-oral camera can take pictures with such detail, it can show cracks and stress marks in a tooth that can’t be seen with the naked eye.

An intra oral camera allows us see with clarity and great detail, specific problem areas. Specialized hand-held cameras quickly capture the details of your teeth and gums and allow us to put them on a computer screen. We can explain the need for treatment more clearly by showing you what we see in your mouth.

As an added benefit, dental insurance benefits frequently pay easier with the visual proof of a captured image in our records which shows the need for treatment.

Cone Beam/3D X-Ray

We're excited to offer the most advanced imaging process in dentistry: ConeBeam CT scanning, or 3D imaging. This technology allows us to create virtually unlimited views of your teeth, face, and jaw with just one scan. We're able to obtain high-quality, detailed information to diagnose and plan your treatment needs. We can evaluate your teeth and facial structures from literally every angle and in 3D. Routine x-rays, on the other hand, produce a single flat image which provides limited information.

The ConeBeam CT imaging system is a digital x-ray scanner that rotates once around your head while you stand or simply sit in a chair. The process is quick, simple, and completely painless. The scans produced are as precise as conventional CT (CAT) scans, but use far less radiation. The applications in dentistry are limitless. We use these scans to provide the best treatment in dental implants, wisdom teeth extraction and diagnosis of dental and facial pain.

Regardless of your needs, 3D imaging makes it possible to plan and customize your care unlike never before. You can have absolute confidence and satisfaction in the treatment you receive while knowing we've analyzed every problem with 3D technology.

Digital X-ray

Digital films offer dramatically reduced radiation exposure while allowing the dentist diagnostic capability.

Technological advancements in x-ray technology provide multiple benefits, from safety to improved treatment results.

Benefits:

Safety- Our digital x-ray system provides unsurpassed safety by reducing up to 90% in radiation compared to most older film-based systems.

Time Savings– Images captured instantly with a digital sensor lessen the time you spend in the dental chair.

Better Outcomes - Improved image clarity increases Dr. Wood and Dr. Schapper's ability to diagnose and treat conditions.
